This crime drama from an earlier time in our world sounds amazing. I can't wait to see who actually attacked Herai. I already have theories in my head.

I agree, I too was not captivated from the start. The first chapter of the book was hard to follow not knowing the characters. I felt like I was entering into the middle of a conversation and not knowing who they were talking about. I can see however, what you mean by intriguing writing because I loved the statement by Monta who says, "I can't act. I can't pretend. I do not have these skills. I am better off where I am. The darkness accepts me where I am. The rock requires no pretense from me." I thought many people may be able to relate. I will have to say though even after reading your excellent review, the story still did not capture my interest. I think I will have to pass on this one.

I can see why you found this book to be an
engrossing read.
After reading the sample, I was unexpectedly drawn into the story although I usually don't like fantasy themes. Congrats BOTD!

I like the mystery of parallel universes, alternate realities, connected worlds, etc. I think they evoke a feeling we have all in our hearts, we don't want to be alone in the universe. The story sounds fascinating although I'm not so sure it is for me if I have to read a whole chapter and still, I do not feel attached to the story. Thanks for your review!

I was not fond of the two different point of views. Knowing also that there is a homosexual relationship in it makes me realize this is not a book for me. Thanks for your review.

From the review, I can deduct that the story involves multiverses. In one reality, the old one is dead and in another he/she is still alive. The story sounds really interesting and I would love to explore it.

I am definitely wondering how the author will handle the sub-plots pertaining to the two alternative realities. Besides, the changing perspectives and all the mystery and intrigue surrounding Herai and the underground city are enough to catch my interest and make me want to read more. Thanks for an interesting review!

Great review! That sounds like an actually interesting sci-fi fantasy that I'd love to try out sometime, especially since there's a gay relationship. I'm always looking for well-crafted gay relationships to relate to in media.

Thanks for the comprehensive review of the book. I just finished reading the sample and I was confused as to what was actually going on for a while. I'm glad I was able to read your review to help clarify some things.

Seems like an interesting story, will try to keep an eye out for it.

I like a good book which is an engrossing read that keeps both the emotions and intellect in suspense, but the premise of the novel may not seem very original which is a concern to me. Thank you for the review!

This seems like an interesting read. I like the idea of two alternate realities and that the main romance is homosexual since I feel like that only happens in a subplot. I'll give it a chance.

You make this book sound so interesting. I was already intrigued because of the cover. Your review ended up conving me. Great introduction paragraph.
