Maybe I'm wrong, but I see children who spend lots of times on electronics as spoilt brats.

There is a program in my community that is teaching families how to learn (or relearn) how to create outdoors activities for the kids and adults. They have found that getting families outside and engaged with each other is key to getting kid outside. Also good to have role models like Toni! Good discussion.
Eva, that sounds like such a wonderful program. I think if parents, teachers, and caregivers are concerned about the issue, it isn't too hard to find interactive activities for children. There are plenty of outdoor activities. My brothers and I had all sorts of things we would do growing up, even if it was just to turn on the sprinkler in the summer and run through it! There are also plenty of indoor activities in a wide range of areas. I recently discovered that Home Depot provides short "building" sessions for kids and each session is sort of an arts and crafts thing. I think that is so great.
I think it's also important to realize that electronic play is addictive before deciding how to manage it.

I think that’s a bit harsh, many parents don’t like their children to go out because they are frightened and what else is there to do indoors?

It's true that children now spend more time playing with electronics than more traditional toys. This book will encourage children to play outside more because Although Toni likes to play with electronics, he also goes out.

I do agree with you. I don't think they're spoilt brats I think they just need to learn to embrace other types of play.

I prefer outdoor plays to electronics. Outdoor plays is useful in burning excess calories and keeps children physically fit.

I agree.I haven’t read this story yet, but it sounds like one that would be beneficial for children. Encouraging kids to spend more time outdoors is wonderful!

I thought it was funny that Toni would read his books outside, but more children playing outside would be a welcome change.

Indeed children now spend way too much time on TV and computer games. I think the book does well to recapture the fun in the traditional outdoor games!

I think it’s a good book that it promotes children to play outside more than electronics. Kids need to stay fit & stop being inside all day. I would recommend if you have children to let them read and encourage outside playing.

I think it was inevitable that children would grow up with technology. I was born in '91 back when dial-up was a thing and I grew up using it. I didn't have technology at the palm of my hands like the kids nowadays. I played outside all the time. I hope this book encourages children and adults to go outside and read, play ball or tag or whatever made up game they can because hindering children from playing outside hurts their ability to think for themselves and their creativeness.

I hope it encourages kids to play more outdoors although I am guilty of spending more time with my gadgets than I should. It would be good if parents used this book as a way to encourage their young ones to explore the outside world.

I think kids actually prefer outdoor play more than electronics. I'm guilty of giving one of my neighbour's kids my tablet to play with while I'm with her because it was easy. But when I observe her, she just quietly plays it on her own. It looked like she would rather have played a game with me instead.

I guess most people would somehow rather their kid be at home playing games online than outside, not knowing where they are and what they're really up to.

I think a book that show other things besides electronics is great! I see where it can help encourage kids to go outside ands play or read instead of using their iPad or something. Yes, electronics can be educational if used right, but nothing beats hands on activity. I love Toni reading outside, and all the play equipment on the play ground as well.
