You, the people by Pablo Degenio is a collection of short stories. It consists of six chapters; with each focusing on one individual and how he or she dies. Evil has landed on earth and it's busy accomplishing what it does best: destruct.
Rebecca Aseptue has practically no care in the world. She's the head of the corporate at a vehicular-insurance company. She is the boss, has a good salary, lives a good life and has people she can order around. At her call, she has all her subordinates running to fulfill her wishes. No one can dare speak behind her back, cross her path or go against her in any way. Therefore, when she walks into the office one fine morning she's surprised to find everyone in a solemn mood and ignoring her. This doesn't sit well with her, and she's snapping at her workers as she loses her temper. Apparently, Bill Harris happened, as, he dies in an unfortunate car crash.
Mrs. Harris, Bill's wife, is on Rebecca's case. She storms into the office blaming Rebecca as she demands an apology from an unapologetic, no-nonsense Ms. Aseptue. The mourning widow is met with an opposition she didn't expect and sets out to avenge her husband's death that she blames on Rebecca. As she leaves, she promises Rebecca that she will pay one way or another for the death of Bill. Immediately after, a package arrives for her that seals her fate for good. This is just but a summary of one of the stories.
You, the people isn't a book for the faint-hearted. It contains some disturbing scenes with no filters on death scenes. The language is mild an example: when Rebecca refers to the other workers as a herd of sheep. The scenes are terifying as some characters come into contact with the devil himself. However, the author as written an incredible book with a central theme of death. Across the story we meet different characters, different storyline but, their fate is predetermined without their knowledge. An aspect I love is the illustrated pictorials at the beginning of every chapter. It's effortlessly captionable and understandable.
I rate the book a 4 out of 4 stars. The editing is perfect because I didn't find any errors throughout the book. The other people you encounter include: Alfred, Gary, Mike, Johnny, and Teresa. This is a great young adult literature, and I recommend it to all its lovers. However, here's a disclaimer: the book has gory sexual, murder and death scenes.
