Wow, fantastic review! I would totally read this book. It sounds dark and compelling.

Thanks! The book isn't really dark, even though the subject matter is harsh. There is something uplifting up about it. The story is told in a matter-of-fact way and the women find ways to cope and move on.

This is an excellent review Bookowlie. Well done well done well done. This Alex character really has me interested in reading the book. Wonder how long she keeps and if the moment will finally come when it hits her.

Thanks! All of the main characters are interesting, and flawed, in their own way.

Thanks for the kind words. As for the author, I agree that she deserves to be recognized! This is the second book that I've read and reviewed by this author. Both were engrossing reads.

That's nice to hear! The only thing I wish the author would have done is create a separate title/subtitle for each installment, instead of Behind Closed Doors 1 and Behind Closed Doors 2.

Great review! I have to admit that I normally shy away from these kinds of stories (I get upset by all kinds of child abuse pretty easily), but it sounds like the author approached the topic in a realistic, yet sensitive, manner. I may have to read this one!!!

Thanks! The topic is handled in a sort of "off-camera" way...something that happened in the past and is referring to in a matter-of-fact way. There are no graphic sex scenes, erotic language, etc.

You have twice mentioned the absence of graphic or explicit sex scenes in this book. That is one of the most important factors to me when looking at reading a book like this. I understand that there is a market for erotica, but it's not my cup of tea and I loathe being bombarded by it when I try a new author. My thanks to this author for keeping the story real and not filling the pages with sexual narrative. Also to bookowlie for a great review!!

Wonderful review! This sounds like a great book, I won't be reading it personally, I will definitely recommend it to anybody I think will be interested!

Thanks. I also don't like being hit over the head with graphic sex scenes, particularly when it involves child sexual abuse.
