Gorgon is one of the most interesting to me. Of course, don't look that Medusa in the eyes, it could end badly!

That's why my Medusa wears reflective sunglasses. 8)

I also think that Gamera was a pretty cool creature. Anyone know him? So cute!

Living on the West coast of Ireland, I have to go with selkies. Female seals who fall in love with a sailor or fisherman and coming ashore, to be with the man, turn into a human woman but if she ever puts as much as a toe in the ocean she will immediately turn back into a seal. There are numerous stories and songs that celebrate the selkies in Irish, Scottish and Iceland legends - most are beautiful but very sad with the seal woman invariably going back to the sea to rescue her fisherman husband or child.

Being from the northwest US originally, Im partial to Sasquatch. There have been stories about them for years. A friend claimed to have seen one near my home town while picking berries. One was supposed to have raided the city dump in one town, and there have been several sightings all around that area.

I have yeti to experience Sasquatch for myself, so it is hard for me to believe in him. ;)

I like the griffin. Pretty interesting animals. I wouldn't want to stroke one, though. I wish they were real :(

I have to second this.
This is a subject that never gets as much attention as it deserves.
I love them and would love if they were focused on more.

That is an awesome creature! I have never heard of this, but I love it already! Can they turn back to a woman if they just come out of the water and dry off again? Or is it like a one-time deal?

No I'm afraid not, they only get the one chance. Here's a little bit of detail for you, Enjoy. (Quality is a bit dodgy!)

So is she actually a seal or a woman then I wonder? I do know that it puts quite the new twist on the phrase "sealed with a kiss" at the wedding of the seal lady and her husband! ;)

I always dug Athena, or Minerva. I call her the goddess of common sense. She got Odysseus out of some rough scrapes and some of those other ancient Greek guys who got into deep doo-doo because they were idiots.

My Greek mythology is all messed up because of Hercules and Xena.
