The Internet President: None of the Above by P. G. Sundling is an honest, raw and bold work of literature. The story itself starts with two characters- best friends James and Maria. In the book's opening events, they lose their software company to a businessman. Due to this, both James and Maria decide to do something that utterly changes everything. Stepping into the world of politics, James and Maria decide to run for the position of President and the Vice-president of the United States, respectively. Adopting aliases, they make their way to the top of the political hierarchy with the use of the internet. The political powers and mind games at play in this book will leave the readers wanting more.

One of the things I truly love about this book is the fact that it is courageous. The way it reflected the reality of the world is refreshing and introspective. This particular work by P. G. Sundling is well-written and well-edited. The way the plot unfolded felt very natural and authentic. The interactions between characters also felt organic and real. I love that each character had their own designs and personality that were distinct from each other. The internal monologue of the characters perfectly reflected their personalities and behavior, which furthered the overall character design. The pacing of the story is also well-done. It didn't feel rushed.

My only issue with The Internet President: None of the Above is the way the female characters were presented. The dismissal of female characters could be seen in some aspects of the story. Despite being a political/action story, the heavy implications of a beauty standard could be felt in the interactions between characters. An example of this is could be found in the earlier scenes. Specifically between Maria and Renquist. The fact that Renquist unwittingly let his guard down after seeing Maria is a perfect example of the existence of a certain beauty standard that women are being upheld in. Although despite this, I truly love the way it showed the retaliation of the female characters with regards to this standard. The line delivered by Maria truly felt empowering.

I would rate this novel by P. G. Sundling with a 4 out of 4 stars. My issue with the book doesn't affect the quality of the story itself. The way this story reflected themes that can be seen in today's society is brilliant and I believe it is worth noting.

I would recommend this book to readers aged 18 and above who enjoy a mix of political, action, suspense and romantic themes.
