I agree with the author that we should take responsibility for our actions and decisions. By taking responsibility we would be able to manage our anxiety and stress more easily. We should remember that our life is just ours and we are responsible for the choices we make.

It is a fact that being responsible for our actions helps us get a better perspective on ourselves. But don't you think the responsibility for everything around you can be stressful at times? Taking responsibility gives us less time to relax and I feel taking a break is necessary sometimes.

I did some time ago. I don't think this is the appropriate forum to go into details but at some point I acknowledged that nothing was going to change unless I changed. The side effects of meds were literally killing me, so I went on a quest for well-being. It's easier to blame things on our past or on others and it's much easier to pop pills than to radically change your life. Don't get me wrong, some people need the pills, and they're a great resource in an emergency or for extreme cases, I just don't think, in my experience, that they're a sustainable solution in the long run for everyday stress and anxiety. Of course this is different for other kind of mental issues or illnesses.

I think that as humans we always tend to blame life, circumstances, destiny, luck... etc, for every misfortune they live. The state of this continuous blame is what leads as to anxiety whereas having and understanding this responsibility about our lives and our choices will set us free from this endless circles of regrets.

Like I always tell some of my patients, "protect your peace, space, and mind.". Anxiety and stress begin from the mind. When that place is guarded, that's a step towards progress. You'll realize that you have taken charge of every decision you make, every person you let into your life, how you let people and event affect you, and your approach to issues. You get to do what you can and strive for better without beating yourself up about what you have no power over. You stop every step of the way to reflect because you're realistic and in charge of yourself. You do this, and you'd have managed to cut down stress and anxiety to the barest minimum.

I feel that taking responsibility is vital in overcoming anxiety of the unknown. However this one act cannot cure everyone's problems with anxiety. That being said, I think that taking responsibility is a big hurdle in today's society since being responsible for one's actions and the reality of consequences is not something taught to children.

I do believe that you need to take responsibility for all of your actions. I am not in total agreement that it makes for a balanced life, but it does help. There are still times that I feel anxious, but remind myself that I have control over the outcome or at least part of it.

The author is right. Be very true to yourself and embrace reality checks. Protect your peace and space. Weigh every decision you make with little or no external influence. Be in charge of your mind because people will mess up, how you react is entirely your prerogative. In the end, you're all you've got, and if you let yourself go, you'll go alone.

I agree that taking full responsibility will go a long way to go handle anxiety because shifting responsibility to others indirectly affects you as you have no power to direct peoples behavior per time. Our actions are the one time we can always control and when we take control banish anxiety... Taking responsibility is a goal for me

I agree with the writer. There is a great need for individuals to wholly recognize their actions and understand their consequences. In order to do this, we need to confront our internal biases and this would most likely reduce anxiety

Reading the part of this book that encouraged taking full responsibility of achieving balance reminded me of another book I'd read.

It was written by a psychologist and in it, he debated on how quickly we (and doctors alike) have become quick to label things like anxiety as chronic disorders and diseases which then have to be cured by something outside of ourselves.

He begged to disagree, opining that first and foremost the desire to get or feel better must come from the inside and that is what he called the responsibility in that case.

I think it's important to understand that the journey to ending anxiety cannot be fruitful if the person involved isn't responsible for something; even if it's just the nature of thoughts that run through their minds daily.

I believe what the author means by taking responsibility is to stop blaming people for your problems. Life is a test for everybody and everyone has to face these tests as a way of growth.

I have definitely applied this philosophy of taking responsibility in all areas of my life from my career, to family life and it has worked wonders. I am the driver of my life and the destination I reach is of my own creation.

It's an important skill to hone, but I think it takes practice and confidence! When you are able to take responsibility for your choices, you feel much more in control.
