Review of The Inheritance of Amaya Montgomery
Amaya Montgomery is the chief executive officer of Montgomery Innovations. Despite her wealth and status, she feels empty. Amaya yearns for a baby, but she cannot get pregnant. No matter how much she gives to the community with her wealth, her pain and the ghosts of her past never go away. To make matters worse, Amber, who is a heroin addict and Amaya's mother, is gunning for her daughter's money. Quentin, who is Amaya's husband, appears to be a charming, attractive fellow, but the narrative makes it clear that something is off about him. What’s the deal with Quentin? What will happen to Amaya?
Inescapable trauma is the central theme of The Inheritance of Amaya Montgomery, and I like its execution. Through Amaya's memories, journal entries, and present journey, readers learn how the past gnaws at the present no matter how much you try to hide or resist it. Amaya's constant battle with the ghosts of her past to reclaim her agency is a battle relatable to readers who have to deal with doubt and anxiety as a result of ordeals that happen in childhood. In addition, The Inheritance of Amaya Montgomery taps into the fear of being in a relationship with a partner who pretends to care about you but desires only control and owning whatever you have. Without diving into spoilers, the characters that readers are meant to root for, Amaya and Bree, confront selfish, egotistical antagonists who believe they are entitled to take whatever they want.
To sum up, I do not have anything negative to say about this book. The Inheritance of Amaya Montgomery appeals to female readers who are interested in thrillers, raising children, mental health, and empowerment. Although the book contains one error and four blank chapters after the donations page, the editing is great. If you are sensitive to depictions of gaslighting, domestic abuse, and substance abuse, stay clear. Therefore, I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.

The MC's wealthy background can make it hard for regular, busy people to connect, for sure.Stephen Christopher 1 wrote: ↑11 Nov 2024, 01:00 The themes of this book don't really appeal to me; I'm not sure I'd be able to connect with the protagonist. There's a huge audience for this kind of book, so I'm sure it'll be well received.
