The minimalist design and muted colors add a layer of intrigue, perfectly setting the tone for the novel's exploration of complex personal secrets.
I agree with you that the muted colours add to the cover's design. It is almost reminiscent of a detective story cover!
I am confused how the Golden Gate Bridge conveys any of the stories themes, though. Can you clarify what you mean? I suppose bridges can represent a journey and the choices made along it, such as whether to cross the bridge or not and the impact that has on a person's life, metaphorically.

However, I do not feel that the cover conveys the romance element of the story. I think including Vanessa, perhaps facing Tod Von Westerkamp but looking over her shoulder, would improve the cover, rather than including the birth certificate on the cover.
Thanks for your feedback! I understand your point about the Golden Gate Bridge. I see it as representing not just a physical journey but also a metaphor for the crossing between hidden truths and identity—like how Vanessa's story seems to bridge two worlds: her past and her present, or her search for the truth and the deception that surrounds it.
I hadn't thought of it that way! Thank you for answering. I agree with you! I also like that its bright colour made it pop compared to the more beige tones of the rest of the cover.

At first the cover doesn't make sense, especially as you explore Vanessa's life in the South and her connections there. Once she is an adult and sheds that life it makes a lot more sense. However, I think it would have been more interesting and complex to add a few southern landmarks into the fog surrounding the bridge, as a nod to her childhood and continued connection with the South.

I like the cover. It matches the title and tells you the setting of the book. I think it’s aesthetic, which is eye pleasing, and very fitting.

I wouldn't say that the cover fascinated me. I do not feel like it tells any story. However, I would consider this a personal factor as I am drawn to more colorful covers.

The book's cover is really attractive. I didn't really think much of it at first, but as I read on, I couldn't help but get sucked in. It speaks to me with a peaceful presence. Its attractiveness stems from its simplicity, which I find endearing, and its unique notion. The title is wonderfully complemented by the carefully chosen colors.

I found the cover of Deceptive Calm intriguing—it perfectly reflects the book's tension between serenity and hidden turmoil. The calm imagery with subtle hints of something ominous brewing beneath the surface mirrors the plot beautifully. It sets the tone for the suspense, making you wonder what’s lurking behind the peaceful exterior.

I think the book cover is too simple for a romance genre. Adding element like expressive characters could better capture the essence of the genre and make it more appealing.

Hi!

I like the cover of the book. The colors used are soft and calm and somewhat mysterious. Since I read the book, I understand the picture of the bridge on the cover.

I like the simplicity of the cover page. Though simple, it conveys a strong message of a voyage across seas and the quest for a purpose driven life.

Actually, at first glance I had a lot of thoughts to what the book may present. However I love the dull nature of the book cover. I'm looking forward to seeing the quality of the plot.

I appreciate the cover of *Deceptive Calm* for how it reflects the book's themes of identity and The simple design and soft colors create a sense of mystery, inviting readers to dive into the story. It gives a nice preview of the deeper issues the characters face throughout the novel.

The book cover perfectly fits the name given to the book. It gives a peaceful touch due to the subtle colors used. However, the turbulence inside the book isn't fully captured on the cover. It's the kind of book the cover draws you in not because of a promise of fun and laughter and all things bubbly. It draws one in from the calmness it portrays. Love the colors

I actually really liked the cover of this book! I loved how it had elements from the story on it, but didn't really give it away. I also liked the color scheme of the book. Like the cover states, the color choices are a "deceptive calm", because I feel it doesn't really picture the turmoil of the book. All in all, I enjoyed the cover a lot!

The cover design is striking and beautifully crafted, with a minimalist style that exudes a sense of calm and perfectly complements the title. It was the cover that first caught my attention and made me curious enough to look into reading the book.
