A Story of Survival, Courage and Endurance, in Nigeria, I heard a lot of stories like this and more worst.
Its a story of a young boy who has to survive by all means and I think I like the way he go about it, he found a reason to stay alive and motivate others.
Thanks to the writer

I sampled the book on Amazon. This is a heart-wrenching story by a mother about the life of her son who was incarcerated at 16 under harsh circumstances. As mentioned in the review by Charlaigne, this book should appeal you to the soul-level.
The disappearance of the word "I am" is indeed the highest happiness! :)

This book brings to mind the song The Light by Disturbed.

And at first, the quote in the book by JFK that 'having a child is handing a hostage to fate' made me think of Creed's With Arms Wide Open. In the music video, Stapp (lead singer) sings about the awe of becoming a parent, but the video shows him being bombarded by meteors from the sky. Thought it made no sense except that life DOES feel like that when you're a parent, having to protect innocence from never-ending attacks.

Anyway, then I read the rest of JFK's quote...he seems to have meant the opposite. More that a wife and children were hindrances to your full life. I was disappointed.

It sounds like this book is engaging and satisfying on a large variety of levels. From the frank look at the american justice/incarceration system, to the personal level at which a mother deals with her son being sent to prison, and even to the accomplishments of Davin while being imprisoned in a harsh and violent environment, there seems to be a ton awaiting the reader within this book.

Davin shows us the power of a resilient spirit and that even the painful moments in our lives can serve a greater purpose such as using his prison term to develop himself through reading books, becoming a prolific speaker and writer and teaching other prisoners helping them adjust to life in prison. I am glad to read that this book will stay with you for years to come. I am sure it will have the same effect on me. Awesome review

A decent person will not keep his pet in such conditions as they keep people in those prisons and it is good that Davin managed to become a better person under such circumstances: becoming a Tai Chi master, then a teacher of some sort for young convicts, doing yoga and practising meditation and others. Unfortunately a happy person who has practically everything won't have the need to change anything in yourself, only those who suffer a lot and have a strong will can do this. And Davin J. Douma did this and I'm glad for him. Congratulations on becoming BOTD!

It sounds an interesting story of a boy who spent precious years of his life in the harsh environment of the prison. Great review.

Excellent review. This feels like a very insightful story which could change a person's viewpoint on some significant matters and can lead to burning discussions. Thanks for the thorough review.

It isn't easy for people who get sent to jail, and it's equally as difficult for that person's family. For people who want to know what that's like, this book is perfect for you.

Wow! This sounds eye-opening, yet heartbreaking! This book is about a teenager who was falsely imprisoned and his mother writes his story along with pieces written by him. Congrats on the book of the day! Great review!
