Re: Why do you like reading?
At my moms (a safe home) I read for pure enjoyment and love of reading.
Now I read because it’s something I love and it provides me some “me” time. I also set an example for my 5 year old step son.

I can relate to that. Sometimes reading provides you the change in your daily life and it's kinda escape from reality too. You read different stories, different opinions on sunjects, get to know different facets of a single thing etc. Curious minds are attracted to reading.❤

When the hard times are not so obvious, I am more discriminating about what I read. It is then just the pure love of the written word that compels me.

For most people, its the same reasons over and over again. But who cares? Its still the best hobby in the world. My mother nurtured my love of reading, and after she died, it took me 2 years before I could pick up a book again. The last year has still been a bit of a hit and miss, but I have read 8 or 9 books in the last two weeks and it feels as if I'm home.

I developed a love of reading a long time ago. I cannot remember if my mother ever read to me as a child (but I have for both of my kids), but I do know that I devoured books on the regular.
One summer I remember even reading every young adult book that they had at my local small town library!
Though the reason I loved reading then, and probably still now, is escape. I had a rather tumultuous childhood and books were a way for me to be someone else and somewhere else. I loved to follow series but I can be just as intense on certain authors as well.

It's fun to later see the different perspectives people give the details when you read their reviews and opinions.
I can also credit reading with my level of emotional maturity. It is perhaps the height of empathy that you can learn to feel so strongly for someone or something that simply doesn't exist.
