Friendship is always a redeeming theme to encounter in literature. After all, we can all relate to the many positive benefits that stem from the support and camaraderie of true friends.

I love books with friendship as a major theme. It makes one still have faith in humanity.

I agree with other members in that without friends we cannot succeed in life. I also think that even in real life big issues and problems arise that need the input of other trusted sources in order for us to make the right decisions. I can see the parallel between the Harry Potter series and this book.

Yes. Exactly this book reminds me of Harry Potter a lot and one of the things that does so is the idea of friendship in these books is similar.
Ah, yes! I wonder if the idea of friendship in the book could also be developed in different ways.

Benthic wrote: 02 Sep 2019, 04:02 The book deals with a lot of themes in which one is the bond of friendship. In this book we see Will gathering a lot of friends in not only people but animals as well and these friends are the ones who help him pull through the quests and achieve his goal not much unlike real life. What is your take on this?
Friendship was one of the major themes in this book and was essential to the success of Will's adventure.

I liked that the book showed that Will had a lot of help. It really made relationships and friendships very important. Without these friendships, Will would not have succeeded. It’s also nice to show that you can’t do everything yourself and that you need other people sometimes.

I feel like this particular aspect is reminiscent of the typical fairytale plot. The protagonist leaves on a quest and gathers many friends along the way. I really like this type of plotline, I love reading about camaraderie in hardship, something not so often found in the day to day life.

I think this is to remind us that we need people around us to succeed. The right people.

I agree with your assessment. The book highlights Will capability of making friends quite easily. First with Peter, William, and most of all sharing the beliefs of Olám Shoné.

I think that everyone needs someone to support them and that it this novel did not have that, then it is not very real to the reader.

I appreciated the sacrifices they were willing to make for each other. Having a group of characters allowed us to see the love they shared instead of focusing on just a lone protagonist.

Where would we be without our friends indeed. The value of friendship, as witnessed in this book, has no pricetag and cannot be overemphasized.
