Friends are important in one's life. Without them, besides family, makes life much more difficult to bear because there are some things you can not open up even to your blood relative for fear of censure or rejection. True friends are like diamonds; they stay true and forever!

Friends are as important as family, and I doubt anyone can achieve anything worthwhile without help friends. I'm not suprised friends were instrumental to Will's success.

In most fantasy tropes we see that the protagonist requires friendship in order to achieve his/her goals.

And how boring would that have been to just follow Will around the entire time

It feels much more realistic to find success when there is a support system. I love books that celebrate friendship.

What is your take on this?
I absolutely loved how friendships were portrayed in this book. The truth is in real life too, just like the book, none of our achievements would be possible without our near and dear ones, friends and family.

Given the youth of the main characters, I think the story would have been a lot less believable if any one of them had accomplished their deeds alone. I can't imagine how the story would have functioned - or if it would have at all - if they hadn't had each other.

I think friendship was one of the emotions the author hoped to incorporate through the book. The author obviously did it really well as we can see that Will couldn't have achieved a lot without his friends' help.

Well, I think the author, in addition to enjoyment, wanted to instill some virtues to the readers. One such virtue is the importance of friends. We should understand that this is a work of fiction, things don't have to be so real
Bury your dictionaries

The words you need
are in your heart
and the eyes
of the people
you love.

You are right, things dont have to be so real in a fictitious fantasy novel, but it does help to relate to a story - even a bizarre or outlandish one!

Friendship not oly help drive the plot along but also shines a light on vices in the plot.

Me too. I think every teen has their best friend who remains part of their inner circle into later life. In young adult fantasy, that friend is usually the one who knows better than the adults in the story what to do or where to go. The friendship between Peter and Will is dear.

I totally agree with you, that without the right people in our life we would not succeed, and that is why friendship is good, but before making someone our friend we need to observe and make research so as not to fall in the wrong hands

No man is an island. We all need people to succeed — the right people. Will got the right friends.
