In most fantasy tropes we see that the protagonist requires friendship in order to achieve his/her goals.Michelle Fred wrote: ↑20 Sep 2019, 07:17 Friends are as important as family, and I doubt anyone can achieve anything worthwhile without help friends. I'm not suprised friends were instrumental to Will's success.

And how boring would that have been to just follow Will around the entire timeMichelle Fred wrote: ↑20 Sep 2019, 07:17 Friends are as important as family, and I doubt anyone can achieve anything worthwhile without help friends. I'm not suprised friends were instrumental to Will's success.

I absolutely loved how friendships were portrayed in this book. The truth is in real life too, just like the book, none of our achievements would be possible without our near and dear ones, friends and family.Benthic wrote: ↑02 Sep 2019, 04:02 The book deals with a lot of themes in which one is the bond of friendship. In this book we see Will gathering a lot of friends in not only people but animals as well and these friends are the ones who help him pull through the quests and achieve his goal not much unlike real life. What is your take on this?

You are right, things dont have to be so real in a fictitious fantasy novel, but it does help to relate to a story - even a bizarre or outlandish one!juliusotieno02 wrote: ↑20 Sep 2019, 14:24 Well, I think the author, in addition to enjoyment, wanted to instill some virtues to the readers. One such virtue is the importance of friends. We should understand that this is a work of fiction, things don't have to be so real

Friendship not oly help drive the plot along but also shines a light on vices in the plot.Kro92813 wrote: ↑20 Sep 2019, 22:45You are right, things dont have to be so real in a fictitious fantasy novel, but it does help to relate to a story - even a bizarre or outlandish one!juliusotieno02 wrote: ↑20 Sep 2019, 14:24 Well, I think the author, in addition to enjoyment, wanted to instill some virtues to the readers. Me too. I think every teen has their best friend who remains part of their inner circle into later life. In young adult fantasy, that friend is usually the one who knows better than the adults in the story what to do or where to go. The friendship between Peter and Will is dear.Rachel Lea wrote: ↑09 Sep 2019, 14:52 I loved how you could watch Peter and Will’s friendship grow over the course of the novel. Their loyalty to each other and care for each other by the end of the story was very heartwarming to see.

I totally agree with you, that without the right people in our life we would not succeed, and that is why friendship is good, but before making someone our friend we need to observe and make research so as not to fall in the wrong hands
