There's no worse feeling than being rejected by your own biological parents. I feel for Lewis Kempfer for being rejected by his biological father and the hurdles he went through. This book starts out candid and honest. I know there are others out there with similar upbringings. I applaud his bravery for writing his story. I also applaud him for not being afraid to admit his faith. I think the people in his life definitely shaped who he became. He could have taken a completely different path. By choosing to write about it, as the reviewer mentioned, he can help us be aware of our own actions with our children. This is definitely one I want to finish, no matter how difficult it will be. He needed to write it and I feel an obligation to read it.

This book sounds so heartbreaking. Sometimes, I think that parenting isn't for everyone. Some people just don't have love in their heart, and having their own children isn't going to suddenly make it appear. I recognize myself in the lack of love for one's own person. It can be, indeed the cause of much suffering.
