Human cloning and futuristic settings usually aren't very appealing to me, but this book stands out. The themes of human rights, slavery, and abuse permeate the plot in an intriguing way; it is sad to think that these are still foreseeable issues in the future, but I can't disagree. I was disappointed when I finished reading the sample and craved more. Your compelling review solidifies my interest! Thanks for the recommendation.

You almost want to cover your eyes because you don't know if you can stand it.

I love that you say this There is nothing better in a sci-fi or fantasy novel than this feeling; that's how you know it's really gripping (and disturbing)! I also like that you give a fair analysis of whether this novel is primarily character driven. I find that interesting Austin describes it this way, as science fiction is usually pretty heavy in plot; I'm glad to see you say there are some surprises in store.

Project Tau by Jude Austin - A sci-fi thriller with characters who are cloned and then trained. But the projects, Tau and Kata, suddenly show many human characteristics. Very thought-provoking. Austin enslaved my mind and taste in this one.The suspense,the imaginary effects it had on me,it is an absolute delight. Intriguing as Kalin and his partner takes on a revenge mission, well deserved by the Gentech Laboratories for their unethical consideration for human life.

I agree that cloning is in the not too distant future. However, I'm not "into" this genre, and I have so many other books on my TBR shelf, so I'm passing on this one. Looks like a good one for those who like sci-fi! Good review!

Thank for this review. This book reminds me of a Doctor Who episode with Matt Smith where they make the clones do the dangerous jobs and don't recognize them as people.
