This seems like an interesting collection of free-verse poetry following a woman's life journey and dealing with a multitude of topics from marriage and divorce to child abuse and parenthood. Thanks for your review!

Poems convey more than what the words say. I enjoyed the first few poems in the sample, when the narrator was yet a child. I won't wonder if the poignant pieces are true to life.

I read the first few poems, and I can already tell this book is just as impactful as you described. I think the sparse words aspect of a poem works really well for portraying a child's mind, so I'm interested to see how it fares as the protagonist grows older throughout the book. Thanks for the in-depth review!

I occasionally read poetry, although it is not my preferred genre. However, judging by the first two poems, this book seemed to contain a simple yet potent voice. I would love to read this one. Thanks for your honest review.

A collection of beautifully written poetry that relays the story of an unnamed narrator’s life can be found in the book "Paddle to Paddle" by Lois Chapin. The nice thing is that we can see the sequential series of poems beginning with narrator’s childhood and up to her adulthood. The book appears to be quite interesting.
life is only knowing the unknown, we can do this by reading books easily- Online book club is a great place for this. This is what I believe.

:techie-reference: I like the way the organization of beginning of the poem was laid out from a sort of infancy and smooth progressive events which explains sort of progressive lunacy and tough challenges she had to overcome in order to have some type of life for herself only to a cheating husband and a very dysfunctional family.

I enjoy narrative poetry. You don't see that very often. I look forward to reading the poetry in my down time. :techie-studyingbrown:

What a thorough review! It's hard to analyze poetry so carefully without making it tiresome but I loved your review.
I'm sure if we are dealing with such a talented author, the change in the poems is intentional. It seems like an amazing poetry collection.
Thanks!

I normally don't read poetry, but this one seems to be so engaging and emotive that I will give it a try. Narrative poetry can be very beautiful, but also sad and full of emotion. Thanks for an engaging review!

I enjoy the narrative poetry of Sandra Cisneros and her concise choice of words. Your analysis of this poet sounds similar. I read the free sample, and I think your choice of "haunting" was perfect to describe this book.

I would like to congratulate not only author for reaching BOTD, but also everyone else with National Poetry month! (thanks for including this wonderful tip in newsletter) Unfortunately, despite this poetry is still totally not my cup of tea, so I will skip this book.
