Favorite Character and Why

I think all of the characters are great in their own ways, but Celia was my favorite. Her story was the most emotional for me to read because my family is a foster family. We try to provide a safe and comfortable for kids that have been removed from their homes. I have seen kids act in very similar ways to how Celia responded to her temporary home. Her chapters gave me a new perspective on the whole situation.

Now I need to reread a bit to figure out Celia’s.

I mean, Celia sleeps in her clothes? That's definitely a trauma-based quirk.

Or maybe you were thinking of her knowledge of the Revolutionary War?

I would chose Celia as my best character because she was sensitive enough to detect the reason behind Addison's unusual behavior.

I think I appreciated Celia's bravery to tell. I was interested in Addison as well, what she went through would have been difficult for even the strongest of people. Overall, the author was amazing with the characters in the book. I was really impressed by the representation of the emotions and experiences. These two stand out for me!

My favorite character is Celia. From the beginning, I was rooting for her and was so proud of her bravery in turning her parents in. Her conflicting feelings about her family seemed very realistic to me and I found her internal struggle to be heartbreaking. Celia's bravery is inspiring.

I completely agree, I felt so connected to each character in different ways and found them very relatable. Celia is my favorite as well for her amazing bravery in her situation!

I felt the same way. Avery was my close second but I did feel like her character was taking on too much and getting too muddled.

Yes! Foster parenting is truly noble work.

I can't pick just one... I really enjoyed them all. I thought they were all so genuine in what they were dealing with. Usually, when I read, there's at least one character who I don't enjoy and I don't think this had a single one. Celia, Addison, Booker, Damion, Avery... they all could have their own story!

If I had to pick two favourite characters, they would be Celia and Addison. I respected Celia for gathering the courage to report being mistreated. It is surely difficult to come out and accept that you are being abused. In contrast, Addison kept a journal. I believe in journaling your sufferings. As I previously stated, opening up can be difficult at times. So putting down your problems in a journal will help you lighten your load.

Celia’s strength was super admirable. Nobody wants to have to explain terrible things that happened to them like being burned with cigarettes, then to add onto it, her mother was arrested. Yet she still shared the truth. She’s my favorite at this point.

Exactly my thoughts. Actually it was difficult to choose a favourite character because they were all interesting. Buh Celia courage made me pick her among others.

Do I have to pick just one? I actually really liked all of them. Even though it all happened in one day, I feel like they all grew and showed their strength!

Damion felt like he was the most changed, or maybe he just became more honest as the book went on. He started out acting like he just wanted fans to know he was a "good guy." In the end, I felt he really was a good guy, and the social media star was who he was pretending to be.

I liked Celia a lot. She seemed so innocent and still just wanted her mother's love. I think I felt the most for her.

Addison was almost like each person's guardian angel. She kept dropping little pieces of wisdom on each of the characters, and her strength was evident.

Avery was an interesting one. She wanted to be the tough girl, but she really was a soft, kind-hearted person.

Booker was just a sweet guy. He was dealing with so much and was still so good to the other characters. His relationship with Seb was great to see.
