I mean, Celia sleeps in her clothes? That's definitely a trauma-based quirk.Emily Meadows wrote: ↑10 Jul 2023, 11:18Now I need to reread a bit to figure out Celia’s.Dalia Chf wrote: ↑09 Jul 2023, 06:35 I'm in the middle of reading the book so I haven't formed a complete idea yet, but so far I just love love love the girl with the cigarette-burned shirt, Celia. She just grabs my attention the most, I can't explain why. I also love how even though the narration is told in the third person, the author added little quirks to each character. Fact: Celia has the most memorable one! (does anyone get it??)
Or maybe you were thinking of her knowledge of the Revolutionary War?

Her story was the most emotional for me to read because my family is a foster family. We try to provide a safe and comfortable for kids that have been removed from their homes. I have seen kids act in very similar ways to how Celia responded to her temporary home. Her chapters gave me a new perspective on the whole situation.

I was interested in Addison as well, what she went through would have been difficult for even the strongest of people. Overall, the author was amazing with the characters in the book. I was really impressed by the representation of the emotions and experiences. These two stand out for me!

Yes! Foster parenting is truly noble work.Inked_Rebel_Reads wrote: ↑17 Jul 2023, 10:50 Wow, I can see how her story would be impactful for you. Thank you for all you do for kids searching for new homes.

Exactly my thoughts. Actually it was difficult to choose a favourite character because they were all interesting. Buh Celia courage made me pick her among others.Bertha Jackson wrote: ↑02 Jul 2023, 07:55 Which of the characters did you like best and why? Mine was Celia, who showed the strength to tell that she was being abused eventually. Her conflicting emotions about her parents were heartbreaking because she loved and cared about them but did feel their love. I cannot imagine having my mother arrested. I am glad Celia was able to reunite with her father.

Damion felt like he was the most changed, or maybe he just became more honest as the book went on. He started out acting like he just wanted fans to know he was a "good guy." In the end, I felt he really was a good guy, and the social media star was who he was pretending to be.
I liked Celia a lot. She seemed so innocent and still just wanted her mother's love. I think I felt the most for her.
Addison was almost like each person's guardian angel. She kept dropping little pieces of wisdom on each of the characters, and her strength was evident.
Avery was an interesting one. She wanted to be the tough girl, but she really was a soft, kind-hearted person.
Booker was just a sweet guy. He was dealing with so much and was still so good to the other characters. His relationship with Seb was great to see.
