What's interesting about this story is the way they kept travelling like young people even as their lives evolved on the home front. Can't say I managed that - if I travelled at all it was with my kids, so it was very different: more like Mum Mission.

Yes, it does remind us about traveling with our friends. But luckily we can learn to do better and create these chances in the future. After reading the book, I imagined planning some of these trips with my friends. I even mentioned it to them and they were amazed and excited about the whole idea. I read and reviewed this book earlier this year, and like you, I just loved it. I admit to being shocked at some of the things that happened in their personal lives, and I especially like how they 'grew' as men, from being all stoic and 'matey-mate' on the first trip, to showing very real emotion on the 15th one.
