Audible on Kindle

If you have a Kindle Fire, you can get two free audio books from Audible if you sign up for your free trial. You can cancel right after you redeem your two credits (the two credits can get you any book in their store) and the books will still be on your Kindle. It can be a cheap way to get immersion reading for a book if you buy the Kindle book as well.

You can also get a reduced price on the audible version of books you have purchased (or gotten for free) if that option is available for your book.

When you purchase a Kindle book (or get it for free), check to see if WhisperSync is available as well. The accompanying audible book can be purchased for as little as $2.99. (I've gotten a few audible books to accompany free Kindle books and only paid 2 or 3 dollars.)

They are synched together so you can read the book then listen in your car (or wherever) then go back to reading. I really enjoy being able to read a book and then listen to it when I can't read.

Can you guys help me figure out why my books don't sync? I have audible on my laptop and my iPad but I can't go between the two to listen to my books because it only saves onto one or the other.

With most of my books, I have let the kindle read to me. I didn't know that there was audible versions of books.

Oh absolutely and they are so much better than the "computer voice" that reads to you on the Kindle. You should definitely check it out!

You can sign up for Audible for a month and get a book to try for free.

You can also sometimes borrow them from your local library if you have a library card and your library participates in that type of program.

I was wondering about this...I have only used the book reader that comes with the Kindle and it is really hard to get immersed in the book because I am trying to understand what the computer voice is saying!!

How do you get hooked up with it? Is WhisperSync (sp?) the same as Audible? I guess I will have to look more into this...sure would be handy for reading while driving.

You really should check it out if you do crafting (especially crocheting). I crochet a lot too and usually listen to a book. Then I can pick up where I left off and read. It's great for that!

I know what you mean, makes you wonder how they got a job reading books, huh? But some are just wonderful and I've really enjoyed listening.

I do a lot of crocheting and listen to audiobooks so I guess I just kinda blocked out the voices 'cause I got interested in the stories.

Anything is better than the Kindle computer voice though!

That is FOR SURE!! I get so distracted by the choppy reading it does and mispronunciations of words or numbers. I end up paying attention more to trying to figure out what he's saying than the actual story.

Yes, reading is good!

But if you can't read, want (or need) to do something kind of boring or have a long drive it is nice to be able to listen to a story.

I never used the audible on my Kindle. I prefer to read the book.
