Congrats on BOTD!
Brent R. Mekosh's book "In the Shadow of a Dark Star: Godwinks and the Search for a Golden Thread" commends the work for its theological overtones, emotional depth, and lessons. Because of the book's detailed storyline, readers may relate to the characters.

soul snatching mentioned before as it lacks deep feelings of vulnerability or simply the author could not portray the feelings clearly. The editing was good because there were fewer mistakes. This is an autobiography of a man who travels to Africa and learns about the different cultures, values, traditions, customs, and religions.

Thank you for the honest review!

While there is plenty that can be gained from reading this genre of “find/discover yourself” books, so to speak, I think this is one I’ll have to pass on. It’s partially because I can be picky when it comes to this genre anyway, but mainly because if racism (or any type of discrimination) has any place in this book (in a non-constructive way), that is not something to be overlooked.

Definitely not my cup of tea, although I was very intrigued by the cover and anticipated crime mystery or a thriller, so finding out from the description provided in the review the true nature of this book was quite disappointing. No offense, it is nothing personal, just autobiographies were never my thing. Sorry and congrats with BOTD!

The emotional, thought-provoking descriptions of people the author encounters makes this seem as much a story about humanity as one man's memoir.

In the Shadow of a Dark Star by Brent R. Mekosh though termed as a travel story by many is a journey of life inscribed. A journey of a successful trader on NYSE who practiced techniques which free someone from attachment to "Maya" for acquiring the materialistic success (Maya). A quest to find the truth. If you want to find it, just go along with him. Nice review!

Just by looking at the cover and reading the title, I thought that this was a science fiction novel. I hope that Brent finally finds what he is looking for. Congratulations on BOTD?

I love that as the reader you get to feel every emotion the character experiences as you read. I also love that the author makes you learn that despite having problems you can enjoy life. Great review, it makes you want to read the book even if its religious.

Since I do not travel much (there is always a good book to read), I often take the help of accounts of other travellers. I would like to know about his experience in Calcutta. I like a good autobiography.
