Congratulations on being BOTD!
Travelling to different places brings healing to one's soul in life from their troubled past, as it gives you a fresh start to life in a new location, and that's what Brent was looking for in life. It's a good, uplifting novel to read.

Today's BOTD is an autobiography of an ex-NYSE specialist trader who traveled to different countries and shared his experiences. The author has described the people he met on these travels and the lessons he learned. According to the reviewer, the book has a religious angle to it. The book sounds like an insightful read. Congratulations on the BOTD!

The author takes us on an adventure travelling around the continents. I love that the author gives life lessons for us readers. It sounds like a great book based on the review. I would read the book as I would like to find out if he finds the peace that he seeks.

I always appreciate OBC's official reviews, and this one isn't an exception. I love how the author had the reader in mind in adding spiritual and emotional insights.

Thank you for your review!
It's interesting that as the human race, we always believe happiness may be found somewhere else.
I suspect this is the call of adventure that helps us discover ourselves. I once was fortunate to travel from South Africa to the Philippines via Malaysia. This certainly impacted my life positively forward in many ways. Brent's travels sound full of adventure, and I am curious as to what his final conclusions on such travels were.
Congratulations to the author!

Non fiction books are not my cup of tea but judging by the review the book is rather interesting giving lots of valuable lessons the author gained while travelling. I'm sure the book will find its reader. Congratulations on becoming BOTD!

Wonderfully honest review. I like how the positive and negative aspects are both outlined, with objectivity. I'm not into autobiographies but the fact that it has been narrated like a story with travel experiences as a backdrop, has me intrigued. I'd love to pick it up sometime!

"In the Shadow of a Dark Star" by Brent R. Mekosh tells about the author's travels around the world. In search of life fulfillment, Brent has traveled around a significant part of Asia and Africa. I like how the emotions of the characters are described in the book.

As I love memiors, I love autobiographies. They so interesting and a person can most of the time learn a lot from the author's life, whether it's from mistakes or successes. The traveling the author does is what intrigue me the most, as I like to know what other countries are like. I will also enjoy the different religions that's covered as it's interesting to see their believes. Thanks for a detailed and informative review.

"Brent R. Mekosh's autobiography, 'In the Shadow of a Dark Star,' delivers compelling life lessons and emotional narratives, embracing diverse religious themes. Despite minor issues with character introductions and potential racial undertones, it earns a solid four out of five stars. Recommended for autobiography and travel enthusiasts.

As a South African who grew up in Cape Town and currently lives in Johannesburg, I could quite relate to a lot of things and enjoyed reading about the author's experience in these places and the journey from one to the other. I also enjoyed the slang words as well. It gave me a sense of nostalgia.

As for the criticism in the review, I believe the author mentioned it factually and was merely reiterating what Agetha told him.

The author traveled in search of a perfect life and fulfillment. This makes me be more interested in finding out if he did find what he was looking for. The part were it has racist statement... i don't think it was being racist but more of explaining what he was seeing while traveling.

I like reading about different cultures and experiences and the author visited a lot of interesting places. I would love to read more about his visit to South Africa, which is my home country. I'm also looking forward to reading about countries and people that I know nothing or very little about. It will be interesting to read what the author learned during his travels and whether his expectations were met. Thank you for the insightful review.
