I seem to do this only if I've started a book and then forget to take it with me somewhere and end up finding a book to read in the mean time. Then I've got them both going. My mother always marveled that I could do this and keep all the characters straight. It's never really been an issue. I do prefer one book at a time though.

CollegeReader- I do this often as well. Something will spark my interest and I will start reading a certain book, then, something else sparks my interest and I will start reading another book. Sometimes if I am interested in a certain subject I read more than one book at the same time on that subject.

What's your guys' limit to how many you can read without getting mixed up? I found my limit this week.

For a few years, I've read two or three books at once: an audiobook, a physical copy of a novel, and sometimes a non-fiction teaching book. This week, I kept going with my audiobook and novel and then tacked on another novel (an ARC I'm reviewing for this site.) Turns out there's too much fiction all at once.

We live in a time when you can not read only just one book.I mean I read the Bible in the morning, about 10 minutes, then I read an investments book, and during the day I read also books from my domain.Actually I get bored from so much reading .Often I said to my self I should stop ,because it is too much and I will wear reading glasses.

I read three to four books at a time. My amount varies depending on what interests me at the time. I am juggling between coursework, books for business, and books that peak my interests. My sister, an avid reader also, says I am nuts, but somehow I manage to keep all the details in order.
Some of my happiest moments are when lost within the pages of a book!

I can't do that. I have to focus on one book first so that I can be fully immersed in it!

I can have two or three novels going at once. If/when I do, it's usually the case that one of them is historical while another is contemporary. I've found that I don't do well with two historical mysteries under way simultaneously; no matter how different the eras (i.e., ancient Rome and turn-of-the-century Paris), that gives me a hard time keeping track of what's what and with which book. Contemporary settings, on the other hand, are easier for my brain to process - as long as the type of story differs. So if I'm in the middle of a police procedural and start a romantic suspense novel, that'll be fine.

Nonfiction, though, tends to be just one at a time. But the nonfiction choice somehow never interferes with the novels ...

I can only read more than one book at a time if they are different genres.

Typically I wind up doing this due to school requiring me to read one novel while I am in the middle of another. For example, I'm currently reading both Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison and The Sun Also Rises by Hemingway.

Yes, I read more than one book at a time for some reasons. I feel there is too little time. If sometimes I feel non-fiction is too vague, I would balance it with fiction books

Definitely. I always have 2 to 3 book on read. If I'm bired with one, I move on to the next until I finish one of them. Then I add another to the cycle.

I picked this habbit of reading more than one book at a time because of obc actually. I usually try really hard to finish a book before picking up another.

Yes, I do the same especially if I'm bored with a book or it's incomplete.
