I love the review simplicity. And my favorite line is "Tactics are short-term game plans, whereas strategies are long-term ones. " I've gotten inspired by Eric H. Schuelke on such a wonderful puzzle. Great. :techie-studyingbrown:

I know the rules of chess, but a book to refresh the game is useful since I have no understanding of tactic nor strategy. I like this book even more because of the background information included, the history of chess.

Thank you for your informational review. I'm glad you liked the book. From sampling it, it did seem the author explained it all in simple terms. I've never understood chess, but wouldn't mind learning what it is all about. I have added this to my list of books to read.

As a chess player I can understand how much it is important to strategize the next move. I appreciate the concern the writer took to write about tactics and strategies that will aid chess.
Be it for fun or competition.

I loved the description of this book by the reviewer. It does sound like maybe the title should be "Chess Strategies [and Tactics] for Beginners" by Eric H. Schuelke. Explaining the history of chess, describing the game board appropriately and showing tactics as well as strategies and some of the chess masters moves on both sides of the board could be very instructive for the beginning or even the intermediate chess player. This sounds like a very worthwhile book.
