I, too, hope that any school district would be more interested in protecting children than their own interests but we all know that is often not the case. Drugs in schools are dangerous and difficult to find and eradicate. This book sounds like a solid mystery without filler and with unexpected twists to the plot. I am not sure, from your review, that I understand why you deducted a star.

Just by reading your review I'm super intrigued about this book and this new type of tattoos. It seems like a good lesson for teenagers for prevention of drug missuse. This book sounds like a very fresh concept. I also like the thriller and mystery books that keeps me on the edge till the end. I'm going to check this one out.

I enjoyed the suspense and the compelling storyline. I’m not sure why you didn't rate the book five stars, but I hope it wasn't due to the suspense, as it adds excitement and keeps readers engaged. The rising use of drugs among schoolchildren is alarming, and accountability is lacking. Parents need to step up for their children, and schools treating such issues lightly should be investigated and sanctioned.

The book introduces a revolutionary drug—a tattooed drug that induces a high. I sincerely hope this never becomes a reality, as the drug war is already challenging enough. We can only hope and pray for improvement. Thank you for the great review. I enjoyed reading it. Congratulations to the author on BOTD!

“Cruel Lessons” by Randy Overbeck is a story about four teenage boys that tragically died in a car crash while on a drug that was administered via a tattoo that was placed on the arm and the drugs penetrated the user’s skin. This event occurred on a school camping trip late at night after lights out and the four teens snuck out of their cabin, took one of the boy's father’s Camaro Z-28 for a joy ride, administered the tattoo drugs, drove the car at a high speed, lost control and crashed in the woods. Two boys were ejected from the car, one went halfway through the windshield and the driver, not old enough to drive, was killed by the force of the engine going through the car after the car struck a tree. The school had been experiencing drug problems and the principal and his staff were trying to identify how the drugs were getting into the school. The sample kept me on the edge of my seat, and I never did find out what happened to Amanda when her brakes failed. I need to read the entire book.
