Forget all these other suggestions and read Haunted by Chuck Palahniuk. It's not about rape or incest, but it will get your blood flowing in a new and inventive way! It is disturbing in the best possible way. You would greatly enjoy any Chuck Palahniuk book.

anything by Lesley Pearse. Also try The Little Prisoner By Jane Elliott which is a true story of a girl who 'encountered terrifying mental and physical torture from her psychopathic stepfather for a period of 17 years until she managed to break free'. This book made me cry.

Well i have read a few wrong books.I read the book Chosen which i think is the sequel to Marked and Betrayed in the House of the Night series but I never read those two.The part in the room of mirrors was wayyyyyyyyy to much info for me.i also read Evermore {The Immortals series}which had me crying at one point and laughing at another made me almost in hysterics.Like near the end Ever said to Damon " All you ever want is to get in my pants!!!" which was sick yet funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Little House by Philippa Gregory.

I wonder if anyone else has mentioned this book, it is disturbing because the relationsship issues are so realistic, if a little extreme.

For real life disturbing crimes, as has been mentioned, there's no matching Fred and Rose, by Howard Souness. The book details the crimes of two of the most sadistic serial killers of the 20th Century.

For fictional disturbing books, there are plenty including The Shining, Geralds Game (both by Stephen King), Hannibal by Thomas Harris, The Road by Cormac McCarthy and The God Delusion.

Plenty of disturbing books on the market but the quality varies wildly.

American Psycho is undoubtedly the most disturbing book I've ever read. I only read it once about five years ago and still vividly remember several scenes from it.

The Cement Garden by Ian McEwan also disturbed me - that book begins with a teenage brother and sister 'fiddling' with their younger sister. McEwan's short story collection 'First Love Last Rites' features several really weird tales as well.

Another book, The End of Alice, by A.M. Homes, (which I haven't read) I remember the tabloid press in the UK labelling 'evil' and saying it should be banned
