I also found your mention of practical tools like diaries and self-portraits insightful. It's true that many teens find comfort in expressing their thoughts and emotions through writing and art, so incorporating those exercises seems like an effective way to help them build self-confidence and self-esteem. The idea of including this book in school libraries or classrooms is spot-on, especially since, as you mentioned, boys can also benefit from these lessons.
On the other hand, I can see how the length of the book could be a drawback for younger readers. Your suggestion to shorten it by about 25% seems reasonable, and adding some visuals could make it more engaging for teens. Thanks for the balanced review—I can see why you gave it four stars despite the minor flaws. Shine seems like it could be a valuable resource for teens and educators alike.

What I love most about Shine is that it not only teaches you how to love yourself, but also provides practical tips and exercises to help you unleash your true self. The book encourages you to embrace your unique qualities and talents, and empowers you to be unapologetically yourself.
I found myself nodding in agreement and feeling inspired after every chapter. This book has helped me become more confident, self-assured, and proud of who I am. I highly recommend Shine to any teenage girl looking to discover and embrace her true self. It will truly change your life for the better.
