I was the same way. The authors I do remember reading are Peirs Anthony, Terry Brooks, Anne Rice, and Robert Jordan.

The only ones I can really recall at this moment are Ellen Schreiber and Stephanie Meyer. Ellen Schreiber's Vampire Kisses series captured me pretty deep in high school. I remember the newest book came out and my mom ordered it for me. I did something and instead of grounding me from hanging out with friends or from my phone, I was grounded from reading the book when it arrived.
The other was of course The Twilight series and even more so, The Host.
These are the two that stood out the most. In high school, I usually just picked up any book without caring who was the author.

John Grisham and Lois Duncan were two authors I loved in high school. Grisham's books were always able to capture me immediately and hold my interest. I loved Duncan's paranormal mysteries also. I've always been interested in paranormal subjects, tv shows, movies, etc. Her book 'Who Killed my Daughter?' was a favorite of mine in high school. It was absolutely heart wrenching to read her story.

In high school, I was obsessed with Anne Rice. I really loved her characters and I even did a report on her. Unfortunately, I discovered that she was suing some of her fans. Then I really got into Dean Koontz.

When I was in high school, I had a few favorites. J.K. Rowling was one because the Harry Potter books were still coming out at that time and I was absolutely obsessed with the writing and the stories. I also read East of Eden for the first time for my English class so John Steinbeck became one of my favorite authors after that book. I also liked Harper Lee after reading To Kill a Mockingbird.

In highschool I enjoyed what most millennials did.

J.k. Rowling
Stephanie Meyer
J.R. Tolkien

My tastes have become more complex since but my love of reading fantasy has remained.
