The only way you'll get poisoned is if one or two have been dead a while or you happened to get some off the coast of New Jersey (I'm allowed to say that, I live here).
If you did happen to eat a bad clam I advise you carry a bucket in to the bathroom with you. Both ends at the same time mate just another of gods little joys.

another clam dish is w/thin pasta ( linguini ).........add garlic, basil, olive oil, etc...........it's very basic but delicious...
very popular in Italian restaurants...
